FA CUP THIRD - ROUND : DERBY MANCHESTER CITY AGAINTS MANCHESTER UNITED
FA CUP THIRD - ROUND : HOT DERBY MANCHESTER CITY AGAINTS MANCHESTER UNITED
The draw for the third round of the FA Cup has been made at Wembley. Manchester City, the holders, have been drawn at home to Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson, who is already finding the noisy neighbours a handful in the Barclays Premier League, takes his team to the Etihad Stadium in the tie of the third round.
United will not need reminding that the last time they played City they were thrashed 6-1. Roberto Mancini’s side also won last season’s Cup semi-final at Wembley 1-0 thanks to a Yaya Toure goal.
Delighted United defender Rio Ferdinand tweeted: ‘Third round FA Cup game versus Man City. Great game to kick off this year’s FA Cup, can’t wait.’
Other highlights of the draw include Arsenal against Leeds and non-league Tamworth playing away to Everton. Chelsea have drawn Portsmouth at home, Tottenham will play Cheltenham at home and Liverpool will be at home to Southend or Oldham. Stoke, last year's beaten finalists, will play away at Gillingham.
The matches will be played on the weekend of 7 and 8 January.
